Sleepy

Of course i forgot to take pictures on Father's Day. It was really nice to celebrate Father's day with my dad and family. Of course the food was delicious. At one point everyone was here and i loved it.
I did get my camera and took a couple of sleeping children. Here is Jonathan and Elise.
The last week before i left for Idaho, Jonathan started teething. For about three nights in a row Jonathan could not sleep. He would fall asleep for a little while and then he would wake up crying. I finally brought him into bed with us so we could try to get some sleep. Poor kid, he would fall asleep sitting up leaning against me and then would i lay him down he would cry. Anyway, he now has a tooth. It just just breaking the surface of his gums but he is a much happier child.

Jonathan also has been working up to waving and finally yesterday he completed the action. He waved to Grandpa! I will try to get a clip of it.

Vacation

I went home to visit my family and left poor C.W. in Phoenix. I can't get enough of how wonderful it is here. I think the hottest day since i have been here is 86 degrees. In the evening we sit outside on the porch and enjoy the weather. At night i open the window and feel a little chilly so i snuggle a little deeper under my covers. Plants are bursting with blooms and the trees and grass are dripping with green. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers and they are everywhere.

Granted it has been an atypical spring/summer here but i am not complaining. This is what summer is all about. The sad thing is my husband is not here to share it with me and to see my husband again i have to go back to phoenix which is probably at least 30 degrees hotter.

It has taken a couple of days for Jonathan to get familiar with Grandma and Grandpa but here is a familiar face. Ryan and Kimberly are staying here for the summer.
We went to Blue Cow for frozen yogurt for Mel's birthday.
Finally, here are a couple of cute ones of Jonathan in my Mom's new sink. She is still working on the tile backsplash. She is doing the work herself. Way to go Mom! As soon as she figures this out and tiles the laundry room floor, she is coming down to help me with my tile backsplash!

This Blog thing

I am still figuring out how to blog. I tried to follow the blogs of people that follow mine and i only ended up following my own blog. Oops. And then i realized that in one of my posts the whole thing is like a hyperlink only i have no clue how to actually link anything in my posts. I think i just did it again. Oh well i guess i need to fiddle around and learn a little bit more about this blogging thing.

I don't have any pictures of Jonathan to post. Last night he was a bear and i didn't get much sleep. Today he was looking in our TV stand glass and realized that he could see my reflection. It was funny to watch him see me and then turn around and look at me. He did this a couple of times and then started to smile and laugh when he figured it out. Then later he did the same thing in the glass of the oven.

I don't just take millions of pictures of Jonathan. I do have a bunch of pictures of the humming bird family that is living outside of our kitchen window. This is the second humming bird that has made its nest in that area and earlier in the spring there was a dove that had her nest there also. So I have become sort of a birdwatcher. If you are interested you may have to click on the pictures to see them up close. I had to enlarge them with the computer so the quality of the pictures are somewhat blurry.

Here is the back of the bird. She is facing away from us. As i watched the bird and her interactions with her babies i realized that she can see me and so this is her protecting her babies.

This is more of a side shot.
Here is the mama and the head of one of the babies. I can only image how small it is.
Another shot of baby and mom.
Here is the hummingbird leaving the nest.
Finally the next two are just of the babies heads sticking out of the nest.

The adventure continues!

So this was Jonathan yesterday when i walked into his room after his nap. I don't know if he even slept. That is why i think he greeted with me with that grin.
Then to my great surprise i put him down today and after a while i was in the living room and i heard this noise i couldn't name. So i walked in and found him standing with bits of map in his hands. For the west wall in his bedroom i started putting maps on the wall sort of like wallpaper. I didn't account for a little boy standing and ripping the paper down. So now i taped all of the maps down so little fingers can't rip the edges. Somehow i don't think this is a permanent solution. You can see the ripped map in the background. Poor Chicago.

This afternoon he started pulling himself up on the couch. I am almost afraid of what tomorrow will bring.

Photo Shoot

Here is Jonathan's 8 month shot. I had to do something to get him to focus his attention off of the 8 mo. paper so i used the phone.
This is Jonathan after i took the phone away so i gave it back to him and just took the picture with the phone. We are all happy.
When C.W. bought me the camera he kept asking if i really would use it. We now have over 1,000 pictures (mostly of Jonathan). Now he keeps telling me i need to delete some pictures!

Update: I could hear Jonathan in his crib playing after his nap and when i went into his room, i was shocked to find him sitting up. Then later in the afternoon, i looked over to the kitchen chairs where he was playing to find him sitting up again. So i guess the milestone here is sitting on his own from a crawling/laying down position. It is harder to entertain him with a few toys now when he can go almost everywhere in the house.

Smiles and Tears!

I don't have a picture for this post but tomorrow Jonathan will be 8 months old and so i will take his picture and maybe post it then. But i just wanted to say quickly that i had a nice holiday weekend. My brother Ryan and his wife Kim have lived here in Arizona for little less then a year while he completed a Master's degree in Accounting. He just finished up and they are heading on to the next phase of life and out of here. I am envious as the thermometer hits triple digits. Anyway, i have LOVED having them here. They were great dinner guests, guitar hero band mates, reliable babysitters, friends to hang out with while CW was gone for the weekend, Kim makes killer desserts and i will miss those. It is nice having someone close by that you can call for just about anything and they won't say no because you are family. It has been nice getting to become friends with Kim also. She is perfect for Ryan. I am really sad that they are moving before their little one arrives. Sigh. But it was nice that since they were moving my parents and brother Nate came down to help with the pack-up and drive. It was really nice to see them. I can't wait to visit them for an undisclosed amount of time on an undisclosed date. (i am learning the fine art of hmm... distrust (?) skepticism (?) whatever from my husband) It is also fun for me to see Jonathan get to know my parents, his grandparents! OK stay tuned for Jonathan's 8 month picture coming soon.
